There’s Something About Miami:

About Town Deb’s Must-See Miami Locales

The food, beauty, and culture of Miami are truly something to be experienced. When I started planning my trip to the “Magic City” it didn’t take long before my list of must-see spots overflowed the page. It wasn’t until I set foot on the streets of Miami that I realized no amount of list making would ever cover all of the amazing things the city has to offer! Whether you have one day or one week to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of Miami, there are a few things that you can’t miss. Here are About Town Deb’s must-see Miami locales.

Little Havana

If you’ve ever had a desire to visit Cuba, you’ll want to make Little Havana part of your trip. The Latin culture infused with the beauty of Miami make for an experience not to be missed. At its heart, Little Havana is a multicultural gem filled with amazing food and drink, music, and art. And if you happen to be there on the last Friday of the month, you’ll get to experience Viernes Culturales, or Cultural Fridays—a mix of street art, entertainment, and the delicious flavors of Latin America. If you’re planning to visit in March, you must attend the El Festival de la Calle Ocho, the largest Hispanic street festival in the southeastern United States.

#AboutTownDeb Top Pick: The Ball and Chain for delicious mojitos, dancing, and live music!

Bayside Marketplace in Downtown Miami

There’s a good reason that Bayside Marketplace is one most visited places in Downtown Miami. As the hub for the Miami area, Downtown has a little bit of everything to offer. It serves as a business center, a highly trafficked port for cruise goers, and an area rich in history for tourists and locals alike. Right in the heart of Downtown Miami is The Bayside Marketplace—a waterfront locale to host shopping, dining, and exotic music and culture. You’ll want to leave plenty of time to take a cruise along the Biscayne Bay, or a bus tour through the area. Your feet will quit on you long before your excitement for the Marketplace does! So take advantage of the local water taxis and extend your time at the Bayside Marketplace.

#AboutTownDeb Top Pick: Take in the nightlife at Bayside and dance all night to the local Latin music!

Miami Beach

Not to be confused with the high energy of South Beach, Miami Beach—on the North end—is a much different atmosphere. Between the North Shore Historic District—beautiful old buildings given a fresh look and purpose—and the calming sound of the ocean, Miami Beach is a relaxing escape from some of the hustle and bustle of the City. There is no shortage of delicious food, shopping, or room on the stunning family friendly beach. If a relaxing escape is what you’re looking for, you must make Miami Beach part of your trip! And the best part? No car needed to take in all of sights!

#AboutTownDeb Top Pick: The Historic District for amazing sightseeing and history!

One of the best decisions I made while in Miami was touring the city by bus. I had a blast learning more about Miami’s history in between stops. The ability to hop on and off as you want means you have the freedom to spend more time in the areas that truly speak to you and relax as you make your way to your next destination. With buses running every 30-40 minutes, you won’t feel rushed or stranded. Be sure to check out www.citysightseeingtour.com for the best experience!

If I had to sum up Miami in a few words, it would be these: culture, energy, and Latin flare. No matter where you go in Miami, you are sure to find amazing people, international cuisine, and music that will get even the most shy dancer up and moving. Make sure to visit the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau website at www.miamiandbeaches.com for everything you need to plan your trip!
