Dine. Connect. Relax at the Escape Lounge

Any weary traveler can attest to longing for the comforts of home—a place you can put your feet up, grab something to eat, and rest your mind for a few. Well, weary traveler, you no longer have to wait for home to find those comforts, thanks to Escape Lounges, a premium lounge experience, now available at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

Regardless of your airline preference or the class you fly, you are invited to spend your in-between-flight time sitting in their comfortable chairs, taking in their modern chic ambiance, and enjoying complimentary food and beverages, freshly prepared in-house, while you catch up on email or the events of the day with your family. And, yes, you’ll have all the high-speed, free Wi-Fi you desire.

Reno Exclusive Chef and Bliss Babe contributor, Colin Smith of Roundabout Grill, was chosen to design the menu, which features breakfast, lunch/dinner, desserts, and cocktails—all with the flair and local charm you’ve come to expect from him.

“We really want to get the local flavor, from the local people, onto our menu,” Chef Smith said of his thought process for the cuisine. “We’ve brought some really fun menu items from the restaurant and introduced some new, seasonal items as well.”

Having the lounge in Reno was the vision of Reno-Tahoe International Airport President/CEO Marily Mora, who wanted to enhance the offerings at the airport and give travelers the comfortable setting they deserve.

“The addition of the Escape Lounges RNO adds another level of outstanding customer service to our airport,” she said. “Chef Colin brings local flavors to a lounge with an international reputation for quality and comfort. Our customers and our community can be excited about this latest addition to RNO.”

Another influential woman that helped to make this all possible is the President and CEO of MAG USA, the parent company of Escape Lounges, Rosemarie Andolino. With her twelve-plus years of experience in international airport management, Rosemarie knows what the everyday traveler wants and has a passion for making it happen.

“Our product is a premium product, and it far exceeds basically any lounge in the business, especially common use lounges,” Rosemarie explained. “We’re delighted to have partnered with local chef Colin Smith to provide healthy food options, in addition to indulgent options, for our guests to enjoy.”

This type of luxury experience, which started out as a successful venture in the U.K., has now begun to spread across U.S. airports, including Oakland, Hartford, and Minneapolis, and it’s not difficult to see why. Passengers can now avoid the crowded seating area at the gate, and enjoy a more private and inviting experience just a short walk away from their aircraft.

Local is the name of the game at the Escape Lounge RNO. In addition to featuring Chef Smith’s amazing cuisine, some of which includes elements from BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, guests will also be treated to fresh coffee from Reno based Wood-Fire Roasted Coffee Company, mixed drinks designed by Roundabout Grill’s own mixologist, Sarah McElroy, and featuring Tahoe Blue Vodka, along with wine from Mark Estee of Liberty Food and Wine Exchange.

The Lounge is open daily from 4:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and admission is $45. For a reduced fee of $40, you can reserve your spot at the lounge ahead of time. And as a partner with the American Express Global Lounge CollectionSM, Platinum Card Holders, and up to two guests, are welcome to enjoy the lounge free of charge when they show their card at the desk.

Once you spend some time in the Escape Lounge RNO, you’ll wonder how you ever did without. But don’t take our word for it. Next time you find yourself with a wait time at RNO, stop in and take a look for yourself.
