Debbie McCarthy, better known as About Town Deb, has spent the last several years embracing her passion for wine, food, and travel throughout Northern Nevada, California, and beyond. Documenting her experiences and sharing them with her community on social media has sparked a new joy in Deb, and she looks for every opportunity to bring new friends into her family.
Deb has seven years of experience in radio media, working with America’s Matters Media and Easy 104.1. She also co-founded and contributed to a womens lifestyle magazine featuring elements of travel, wine, fashion, health, and fitness. She is the recipient of several awards, including an ADDY award for video direction and the 2018 Sierra Nevada Powerful Women award, and is involved in numerous organizations.
After spending much of her life caring for others as a wife, mother, daughter, and servant to her church, Deb found happiness in discovering new sides of herself at the age of 50. On the heels of divorce, she dove heart first into her passions for photography and writing, and began focusing on the importance of self-care. Deb finds travel and experiencing new flavors, cultures, and communities to be one of the greatest loves of her life, in addition to her two children and her family.
Deb has opened her heart and her life to those who share her love for experience new foods, and places, and she has formed lifelong friendships with the people behind many of Northern California’s best wineries and destinations.
